March 19, 2011- Brewmaster

For Jeff's birthday, he wanted to go to the Wild Animal Park and attend the Brewmaster's Dinner. They had a microbrew tasting from the Lost Abbey in San Marcos. We met some really nice people and had some pretty good food, and I even sipped a couple of beer. I don't particularly like beer, so Jeff drank mine. BUT, I did try it. So, as we left, I realized that someone... no names mentioned here... had a few too many beers after drinking mine! Fortunately, he slept the whole way home. He probably needed it, right? Anyway, it was a nice time and we got to have an animal encounter, too. Here you can see the Lesser Anteater, and Jahari the cheetah, with his companion, Yeti. It is always cool to get to see a cheetah up close and personal AND listen to it purr. Happy Birthday honey!

March 18, 2011-40?

Jeff's birthday was today. i have been working on a surprise party for him for about a month. It was very cool because about 20 people came and celebrated with us. he was very surprised and didn't even know about it until the last minute when he drove up. I am so very thankful for the people that came and you could tell he was very touched. Can you say HUMBLE? I know that isn't the word you think of when you say his name, but he truly was. I am very proud of him and very thankful that I had the opportunity to spend it with him. His co-workers made a sign for him and they were very proud of themselves for making it. It is VERY cute. Thanks to everyone for coming and thanks for sending the birthday wishes. He loved it.

March 16, 2011-A birthday

Jeff's birthday is on Friday. He is turning the big FOUR OH! I borrowed these cool cake bakeware things from my friend and I tried them out for a couple of days. I frosted this tonight and I am going to let Jeff eat it tomorrow night. There isn't enough cake for all 4 of us to eat at dinner tomorrow night, but at least he gets his own cake. Funny thing, I was going to frost it with can frosting and he said... hey, I don't even get homemade frosting... so off to the store we traipsed to get shortening. I didn't even know he knew the difference!

March 8, 2011-Wildlife

One of my favorite things about my job is a) being outside, and b) the wildlife we get to see. Today while doing our activity, there was this giant hawk just hanging out on the fence. It was very cool to see. He didn't really care where we were. He was just watching for food. I later got to see him attack said food, but it is VERY COOL. Somedays it pays to be outside!

March 6, 2011--Gift

For Valentine's Day, I bought Jeff tickets to Avenue Q. We went down to Hollywood to see it at the Pantages (my favorite theater!). We ate at a nice little restaurant right next to the theater that reminds me of an Irish Hooters, similar to the Tilted Kilt. Then we checked out the Hollywood and Vine sign. What a great piece of history that corner has.

March 5, 2011-My view

Each Saturday that I put in a long run, I try to take a photo of where I am. The miles are getting longer as we get closer to race date, and I try to get out to the turnaround spot by the time the sun comes up, but I am not always successful at it. So, here is today's shot!

March 6, 2011--The 2nd page

This morning I couldn't sleep so I worked sone more on my scrapbooking. I wanted to see if I could get the second page of the Glacier layout done. It was really easy and fun to do. It would probably help if I was more organized as well. One thing at a time. In the upper right corner is going to have a patch that we bought in Glacier. Cool thing is... it MATCHES the paper. What are the chances of that! BUT, I (well, let's face it... Jeff) went through all the papers that we bought along the way in Montana, and I will still be able to use them. Very cool. I hate to waste money! Just thought I would share my new beginner skills!

March 2, 2011--A new look

Last weekend, my friend andI went down to the Scrapbook Expo. I decided to take a class to learn how to digitally scrapbook. I wasn't really sure how it would go because I really like working with my hands. So, I went to the class and learned some new stuff and thought I would try it out here at the home. I got a couple pages done in the last couple of days and thought I would share them. Now remember, these are just my first ones. So, hopefully that means that they will only get better with time. I did enjoy making them, but I am still uncertain of what that means in the future. I am not ready to sell my good ol' paper scrapping stuff yet. But it was pretty fun to see it from start to finish.

With that said, I have been working with my photos and trying to get them in the albums after the external hard drive mishap. I would like to be caught up, but that can only happen if I set aside some time to scrap. Hmm... spring break maybe?
